Transportation & Mobility This committee handles reviews and discusses information related to city-owned airports, aviation, bridges, harbors and river and lake travel, as well as public transportation and limousine and taxi operations. It also oversees city business related to the Department of Port Control, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority and the Cleveland-Cuyahoga Port Authority. The Committee shall review the financial stability and operation of the City‘s transportation enterprise funds, examine regional transportation policies of area-wide agencies such as GCRTA and NOACA and how they impact the City; and oversee planning and development efforts for multi-modal transportation operations and infrastructure, including rail and bikeways.

The Director of Port Control is present, they introduce John, who they call a manager, who goes over the terms: The lounge space will be in concourse B, the rent is $216 per sq/foot (the established rate for that terminal) and it’s a 3-year agreement.
Chairman of Global Patient Services for the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Fares, says their team is passionate and excited about the lounge. They’ll be offering special services for patients to help them navigate and get the most out of Cleveland.
Vickie Johnson, a Director at the Cleveland Clinic, is also present to answer questions from the council.
Johnson adds that they are committed to minority and female businesses in the construction of the lounge.
The Director says they’ll be working closely with the rest of the airport team, and Fares says that the lounge will be able to be utilized by all travelers with questions. “It’s open to anyone,” he says.
McCormack wants to know how they will address any travelers who come to the lounge seeking medical attention - they answer that those situations will be handled just like any other medical emergency in the airport.
Slife adds that it will help Cleveland feel more welcoming to travelers. Bishop asks to clarify the rent that will be paid - “roughly $104K annually”
Gray mentions that she worked at Cleveland Clinic for 15 years and it has been amazing to watch it expand over the years. She also asks how this project is going to utilize minority women in the project. Johnson says they will be awarded contracts through the hospital.

One clarifying question about the cost from Slife and 170-2022 is passed.
The Director calls this the “unofficial kickoff” of the master plan of improvements. This ordinance will help eliminate delays in the plan.
Maurer asks about which buildings are covered in the demo section of this ordinance - the Director says they are mostly empty, older buildings.
