Police Board decisions on police misconduct cases are on hold as a lawsuit decides whether cases can be determined through private arbitration.

The purpose of police board meetings are for the public to state questions and comments to the board itself, the superintendent of police, and the chief administrator of the civilian office of police accountability (or COPA).

The meeting began at 7:31pm. Board President Kyle Cooper makes opening statements and acknowledges that Board Vice President Paula Wolf, is coming to an end.
Andrea Kersten, Chief Administrator is giving a report for COPA “2024 led to increased staffing,” she says. “We were in all 77 Chicago neighborhoods, participating in 350 engagements,” she also says.
Tobara Richardson, Deputy Inspector General (OIG) of Public safety is now speaking. “We (OIG) are independent because we are required to by the city,” she mentions. “OIG’s budget is 1.4 percent of the overall city budget,” Richardson says.
Richardson says that OIG has attended community outreach events this year
Richardson mentions the survey with details of inquiries featured on the inspector general website Click on “2025 annual plan” She mentions that OIG is looking forward to receiving feedback.

The first speaker mentions being accused of assault. The speaker explains that he wants justice for his attack.
The next speaker is from the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, insisting that all officers involved in misconduct be let go.
The meeting adjourned at 8:09pm. The next meeting will be on January 16, 2025, at CPD Public Safety headquarters.
