@CHIdocumenters Starts by mentioning that he wants to talk about the DNC; says it was successful since he made a promise to protect all neighborhoods across the city. Claims that homicides, shootings, robberies and hijackings were down during the weekend of the DNC.

@CHIdocumenters Continues the say that there is a lot of work to do. Continues to say that people are held accountable, work can get done and that this starts with not only leadership but also "from the top."

Continues to say that accountability for officers is important, and will be using a top-down approach when it comes to training officers where accountability will be of great importance. Says the department wants feedback from community members.

Kersten states that COPA received 390 complaints last month regarding police. They concluded 53 were to be investigated and of those, there were 16 cases that had sustained findings and were sent for review by the police department.

At 8:22 pm, the meeting shifts to the public comment section. First speaker mentions that this week they had a memorial service for a friend/neighbor for a member of the police department who since moving to their neighborhood made the community feel/be safer.

Next speaker is a Rabbi who is speaking on the behalf of Reginald Clay Jr. a young man who was killed following a police chase. The speaker mentions statistics regarding controversies with foot chases and asks for steps to be made for them not to be used by the department.

Next group of speakers were shirts in support of Reginald Clay Jr. mentioning that despite having the success rates during the DNC, foot chases are still prevalent and result in deaths.

Speaker says that despite the fact that her son should be turning 26 tomorrow, she is still at this meeting because they as his family have not gotten any answers.

Reginald Clay's older sister also speaks saying that as a family they are forced to wake up every day and live a life they didn't choose. The third family member is Reginald's father who says the family needs to hear a decision.

All three family members wish their son a happy birthday, which is tomorrow on September 20. The room eventually breaks out in singing Happy Birthday for Reginald.

Next speaker mentions that last week during a Kenwood Academy meeting, they stated on the record during a recorded meeting that a Kenwood employee was having active sexual relations with a student.

Continues to say that it is essential that the Chicago Public School system has stricter policy when it comes to dealing with sexual assault cases in schools and hopes to see the Superintendent and COPA Chief work to make this happen.

Next speaker reads a lit of current and former officer's names that have made their community better.

Next speaker thanks law enforcement who made the city of Chicago safer during the DNC. Specifically thanks Superintendent Snelling for having a plan in keeping communities safe during the Convention, saying he showed the world how his team can "make a difference."

Next speaker gives a kudos to Snelling for their work during the DNC. Also thanks partners and supporters of the police department who made this possible and that they support the police completely.

Second to last speaker is a Pastor; thanks the police for what they did during the DNC. Last person who was signed up to speak is not present. Motion for the meeting to adjourn passes at 9:06 pm.
